Beach Sessions

I have a beach spot I absolutely love near San Juan! It has a mixture of rocks, white sand and ocean… simply perfect at sunset. I only work these sessions during weekdays to avoid tourist crowds. Sunny or cloudy, from experience, beach sessions are always beautiful. So don’t worry if it’s cloudy or overcast the day of your session, heavy clouds can paint both the sea and sky in beautiful colors, every session always looks different. These sessions start around one hour before sunset, depending on the time of the year, it should be around 5:00pm-6:00pm. I completely avoid midday hours, you’ll have hard light and undesirable shadows, specially on people’s faces. Late day sun casts a beautiful warm glow on everyone. Not to mention its best being out of the mid day heat. I love shooting in the beach because we can always start with some posed family portraits, then as soon as kids are tired of posing we can simple let them have fun in the shore line and continue to get great candid shots. Always bring towels and an extra change of comfortable clothes, you might get a little wet by the end of the session. And no need to worry about shoes… barefoot during the session is best.
