At Home First Birthday Session
Congratulations! You made it to your baby’s first year! So much has happened, you witnessed the magic of a newborn growing into a toddler and developing his/her own personality. Your baby's first smile, first rollover, first sit-up and maybe even first step. Your heart is filled with wonders by the time they reach the milestone of one year old. Having a first birthday photography session is a perfect way to mark and celebrate this milestone, documenting this very unforgettable stage in the child’s and the parents’ lives.
I love to photograph this special milestone at home, specially in the baby’s room. It is the room where they have grown up in, and it wont look as it is in this moment forever. It’s nice to know they will have their first year milestone documented in the environment that shaped their everyday life. My approach for these sessions is a mixture of classic portraiture and documentary photography, meaning some photos will be posed and others will be of the natural moments in between. During these sessions, I will capture your family in a way that you can look back on and remember how you really were. The birthday boy or girl is the star of the show, but I always encourage families to be ready to take some family shots as well.
Let's talk props and décor. Adding balloons during these sessions is a great idea. You can have a helium balloon arrangement done or a bunch of balloons laying around the floor… or both! Tissue paper confetti is also fun to work with for some natural and funny shots. Then there’s the option of incorporation a cake-smash into the session.
